ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Economics at Panskura Banamali College (Autonomous) was established in 1971, marking over five decades of excellence in teaching and research. Since its inception, the department has been committed to fostering academic rigor, scientific curiosity, and a culture of innovation among its students. The department offers an undergraduate program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.).&nbsp;Presently the department&nbsp;has 4 faculty members whose teaching and research span a wide spectrum of fields, including Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, Statistics, Environmental economics, Financial economics, Health and education economics, Development economics, Indian Economy,&nbsp;International trade, Public Economics.&nbsp;Also the department offers a MDC course on Computational Economics.&nbsp;
The department boasts its own research centre, recognized for its active engagement in advanced academic inquiry. Under the affiliation of Vidyasagar University, two faculty members serve as Ph.D. supervisors, guiding scholars in diverse areas of research. Currently, three doctoral candidates are pursuing their studies under their supervision, contributing to the department&rsquo;s expanding research profile.
Beyond academics, the department maintains a vibrant student community. Undergraduate students actively participate in various academic events and have presented their research at both national and international summits, reflecting the department&rsquo;s emphasis on experiential learning and scholarly engagement. Notably, several undergraduate students have co-authored research publications, underscoring their research aptitude and the supportive mentorship provided by the faculty.
