The department of Political Science, Panskura Banamali College (Autonomous) has gloriously completed more than 64 years of its journey. The Department of Political Science was established in 1961. In 1961 the department got permission to run the pass course only later in 1964 the Department got permission to run Honours Course. Some of the eminent former teachers and students like Tara Sankar Chakraborty, Gajendra Nath Shee, Nalini Maity, Narayan Chandra Adak, ,Gargi Banerjee,Sabyasachi Basu Roychaudhury,Md.Saha Alam.

The success of the department has yet other indicators. It has produced Vice- Chancellors (Sabyasachi Basu Roychaudhury ),Some of our bright students who joined as teacher, professor  Many of our former students have excelled in Corporate Management, Journalism, Art and Culture, Legal profession and in politics.
