The Department of Computer Science at Panskura Banamali College(Autonomous) has been a distinguished center of learning since its inception in 1995. Initially introduced as a self-financed undergraduate programme, the department began with limited resources, including only 10–12 analog computers and a small group of enthusiastic students. Despite these modest beginnings, the dedication, vision, and hard work of its teachers laid a strong academic foundation and attracted growing interest among students. Their perseverance and commitment ensured that the subject of computer science, then still in its formative years in undergraduate education, found a secure place in the academic structure of the college.
The department achieved a significant milestone in 2005 with the introduction of the postgraduate programme (M.Sc. in Computer Science). This expansion not only widened the academic scope but also enhanced opportunities for higher education and research within the college. To maintain academic rigor, the department invited renowned external faculty along with its in-house experts, thereby enriching the teaching-learning environment. Over the years, the department has evolved to meet the changing needs of the digital age, continuously upgrading its curriculum, methodologies, and infrastructure.
